The Competition’s Repairs

Many repairs are done with touch up sticks sold at automotive dealers and auto parts stores. In most cases the result is a “blob” type repair. These repairs often come off in the car wash or over time just flake away. The result is a rough blob look on the chip and over time exposed metal leading to rust!

In some cases an airbrush technique is used. Companies who airbrush typically tend to stay away from doing strictly paint chips and small touch up’s. The result is that some chips are done and other smaller chips remain exposed to the elements, leading to rust later on. The other challenge is that due to poor mixing of colours, many of these types of repairs result in an incorrect colour match.
